- We hired A&A disc Jockey to DJ our wedding reception. Our DJ arrived with a great attitude and immediately introduced himself to ensure we'd be taken care of. He worked with our coordinator to keep the night going smoothly. We would have liked more discussion on how to kick off open dancing. First group dance was an oldies slow song. I understand the motivation to get a lot of people on the floor, but we were unhappy with the young, single guests that got left out. Husband and I also didn't want to dance another slow song right after first dance. The DJ continued with the 70s and 80s for 4 or 5 more songs; fun music, but we would have preferred mixing those songs in with more modern music to get the night started. People dancing enjoyed it, but didn't quite fit the vibe of the people we expected to be dancing the whole night. DJ course corrected immediately after we sent a bridesmaid up to change music style. - We found out about A & A through The Knot, and we decided to go with them because of Larry's wonderful and informational phone call. We also loved how much they were willing to personalize things for our needs. I was worried about the dance floor being too empty, but when I looked around EVERYONE was on the dance floor. They gave us a very in depth sheet to fill out (seriously like 20 pages long), but it was worth taking the time to fill out because they nailed everything we wanted based off of what we had told them in that sheet. Our DJ was named Michael, and he was excellent. I had told him a couple of nicknames that I had as a kid, and he used them during announcements which made everyone laugh and it was so light-hearted and fun. My dad and I had a choreographed dance, and they made it perfect. They started us off with a slow song, had kind of like a scratched record sound play, and then the fast song that we choreographed our dance to came on. The guests loved it!! He also ended the song at the correct time stamp. Our couple first dance was a bit obscure and from a musical, and they played it with no questions asked. There was only one song that they played that I didn't like, I quickly motioned to Michael, and he changed it and didn't play anything else by that artist. It was perfect and seamless. - After reading so many amazing reviews, we were so excited for A&A to DJ our wedding. Larry was very attentive to our wants/needs and was very thorough in his approach. Our DJ For our reception was okay, but there were several hiccups along the way. First, he did not play the specified portion of the song we requested when we walked back down the aisle…I suppose it’s a good thing we could barely hear it. The sound in the ceremony wasn’t great, but I’m willing to attribute some of that to the torrential downpour outside. Secondly, he announced the bar closing two and a half hours before it was actually due to close and refused to correct his mistake. Thirdly, he played ALL of the line dance songs in a row followed by some weird remix of Mr. Brightside. We had multiple genres checked on our sheet and it seemed like he was working his way through each genre rather than playing a good mix. The most surprising part was seeing him work with a folder full of CDs…I would recommend updating to a digital format to accommodate more requests and a better mix of songs. Lastly, the photo booth printer was broken. Now- what I will say is that April was an absolute sweetheart and communicated with us about her plan for making it right. In fact, the whole photo booth team was incredible and an absolute joy to work with.
