I begin my love for photography in high school at Weaver Center, which I am sad to say, is no longer available. After high school I spent three years at the College of Charleston studying sociology and photography.
Then I decide I wanted to make photography a career, so I transferred to Randolph Community College where I received a degree in Photojournalism and completed two internships, one at The Post & Courier in Charleston, SC and one at The Sun News in Myrtle Beach, SC. Then it was on to Appalachian State University where a received a Bachelors of Science in Photography and minor in Media Studies.
I spent a summer in Chicago where I did an internship with MTV’s The Real World. While in Chicago I meet my beautiful wife Julie, who I convinced to move to Reidsville, NC where I spent seven years as a full time photojournalist at the Reidsville Review. While at the Reidsville Review I covered everything from high school sports, three Presidents, to hard news.
I started shooting wedding for friends and just fell in love with it. It is such an honor to document two people in love on one the best days of their lives as they start a new family.
In 2008 I decided to leave the newspaper business and pursue documenting weddings and children full time. I have won numerous awards including 24 meganet awards for both photography and multimedia, first place for feature photography 2006 and first place for multimedia 2007 in the North Carolina Press Association Annual contest, and Third place Spot News for the month of May 2003 North Carolina Press Photography Association and third place Photo Story in August 2004. I have been professional photographing weddings since 2005.
When I am not taking photos of weddings, other people’s children, or shooting sports; I enjoy taking photos of my favorite subjects, my three children Miles and Quentin, Amelia and my dogs Lulu and Bingham.

What They're Saying...

    • We are extremely happy with Ross’ work. I am amazed at his skill & speed in which he captures the moment with his camera. We have an almost 2 year old as the center of our photo session who behaved exactly as a 2 year old is expected to behave...non-cooperative & challenging! Somehow, Ross was able to give us wonderful shots through the various themes of baptism, Christmas, and birthday within 2 hours (a bit ambitious on our behalf!). Super impressed and thankful we chose him to provide us with these treasurable memories. I 120% recommend his work.

    • Robert did an excellent job from start to finish. He always responded promptly to any questions or concerns. He went above and beyond to make sure that our wedding day went perfectly. He even went to our church before our wedding day to look at the lighting and see where he could get the best pictures. I don't think we even waited 2 weeks to get our pictures back! The book and canvas pictures we ordered from him were top notch quality. Overall, we were extremely pleased and could not have picked a better photographer to capture our special day!

    • Robert was one of the best photographers we have ever used. We found him by chance at the Carolina Weddings Show and it was meant to be. We loved how personal he was and I felt like he was more of a friend than a photographer. He did our engagement pictures as well as our wedding pictures; I highly encourage it for anyone because it gave us an opportunity to feel comfortable by the time the big day came. We also loved that he was open to any ideas we had and spent the whole wedding day with us. So happy to not only have Robert as our go to photographer from now on but we also consider him a friend.

    • Rob is not only an excellent photographer, but a very professional person! He's on time, in constant communication, and does a great job. He spent hours with us on our engagement and wedding photos (we were worn out before he was!) He's fantastic...highly recommend!

    • Robert was so wonderful to work with through our wedding preparations. He worked with our schedule, answered all of our many questions and answered emails quickly and helpfully. His rates were very reasonable and included everything we wanted included all the time we needed the day of. The weekend of our wedding he was everywhere we needed him and caught all of the moments we specifically asked for and many more we didn’t even know to ask for! He was unobtrusive but always close by when we needed him and went with whatever ideas we had on the fly! I would highly recommend Ross Photography for your big day!
